Mixture 965

Mixture 965 is part of the series Swiss tobacconist Wellauer prepared as a counterpart to Dunhill's mixtures; its name and structure are based on the now-discontinued Dunhill My Mixture 965. This ribbon-cut blend contains black or brown cavendish, Latakia, Oriental-Turkish leaf, and Virginia. On opening the tin, Latakia and Oriental's smoky scent arrives together with the Oriental's dry spice and Virginia's fruity note.

In the smoke, Latakia appears not as a sharp burst but as a slowly settling woody, leathery layer; the Oriental leaf adds a dry, grassy spice. Cavendish brings a natural sweetness and creamy texture midway through the smoke, balancing the rising strength without turning the blend into a flavored aromatic. A nutty undertone is a typical result of this composition. Being considered full in nicotine, it appeals as an evening or after-dinner pipe for smokers accustomed to classic Latakia-based English mixtures.
