Special is one of the lightest blends in Swiss maker Wellauer's product line. Its foundation is selected black cavendish, joined by broadly cut Virginia. It's stated to be kept low in nicotine, positioning it as a calm starting point for frequent daytime smoking or for newcomers to the pipe.

Cavendish gives a soft, creamy smoke texture while the broad-cut Virginia adds a natural, open sweetness and freshness. The result is not flat but a rounded, balanced smoke; the casing level is measured enough not to create a pronounced candy-like effect. The cut is a loose mixture and easy to pack.
