Sahara

Sahara is a member of the Afrika aromatic tobacco line introduced in 2023 by White Elephant, a brand founded in 1945 as a small briar-pipe workshop in Bavaria. The brand takes its name from the Tanzanian meerschaum it used in its early pipe bowls; since 2019 it has been among the brands under the Kopp umbrella, keeping the blend tied to the German tobacco tradition. The composition combines black cavendish, broken Virginia, cube-cut Virginia, and Burley, topped with a date and honey-based casing.

The mixed cut, offering both slow-burning cube pieces and quick-catching broken leaf, means little pressing is needed while packing. On the flavor side, cavendish's dark sugary base leads; Burley adds a nutty body and slight dryness. Nicotine level is measured. This blend suits smokers who love heavy aromatics and want the sweet casing pronounced enough to override the tobacco character, as well as newcomers to the pipe. It's offered in a 50-gram tin.
