Commander

Commander is one of Wilke Pipe Tobacco's records built on a four-component American-English structure: black cavendish, Burley, Virginia, and Latakia. Blends of this type combine the smoky backbone of English mixtures with the body of American Burley and the softness of cavendish.

Each component in the blend can be picked out individually, but Latakia governs the dominant character; the layer of soot and burnt wood sits atop Virginia's sweetness and cavendish's creamy edge, while Burley supplies the dry, nutty body. It's said to be blended to burn cool, dry, and without harshening however it's drawn. It suits smokers who love Latakia-based tobaccos but want a bit of sweetness rather than a fully dry English mixture.
