Coronado Oriental

Coronado Oriental is a club blend Wilke Pipe Tobacco prepared specifically for the San Diego Pipe Club. The brand has kept up its tradition of producing private mixtures for shops and pipe clubs since its founding; this record is the Oriental-forward member of that line.

Oriental leaves and Cyprian Latakia lead in the blend, joined by a small amount of unsugared, creamy black cavendish. The Oriental gives earth, wood, grass, and spice, while Latakia adds soot and a floral layer; the cavendish serves to soften the sharper edges. The flavor stays on a sweet-sour, floral, grassy, and smoky-fire line throughout. It burns cool and steady, needing an average number of relights. Body is a little above medium, making it accessible to both experienced smokers and those new to Latakia mixtures.
