Kensington

Kensington is a measured Balkan blend in G. L. Pease's Classic Collection. Oriental tobaccos and Cyprus latakia are added over bright and red Virginia leaves; the latakia proportion is more measured than that of Charing Cross in the same series, so the blend carries a slightly sweeter, less full character. It has a spicy line, and records note it occasionally gives a floral note reminiscent of orange blossom.

In the smoke, the tartish sweetness of the Virginias leads, the Oriental leaf plays a supporting role, and the latakia smoke wraps around the whole. With its complex but not heavy structure, this is a good record for those seeking a lighter Balkan blend for the middle of the day and those wanting to ease into Latakia blends.
