Black Pigtail

Black Pigtail is one of Samuel Gawith's finely twisted rope tobaccos. Virginia and burley leaf are twisted and matured, processed until they take on a dark color; the smoker cuts coin-sized slices and crumbles them. It is a continuation of the rope-production tradition that has run in Kendal for centuries.

Its smoke is dark, earthy, and structured to bring forward the tobacco's own taste; nicotine load is high. It requires slow smoking and thorough drying. A record for smokers accustomed to rope and twist cuts who seek strong tobacco.
