• Raimo Riberg — The bench of an independent maker working in Estonia. Riberg does not carry on pipemaking as a trade stretched over many years but as a pursuit taken up later in life. His acquaintance with briar also happened outside the country: he once lived in Sardinia, running a media company on the island, and it was there that he first saw the material. His interest in the pipe, however, was awakened years later by a piece his mother sent him — a plain example that had belonged to his late grandfather. His decision to set up production in his own country came after this encounter. The bench's shape language draws on two sources: the harsh nature of the Baltic landscape and the aesthetics of hunting rifles. The traces of woodworking and surface finishing found on rifle stocks are also visible in Riberg's pipes.
