Landtabak is an old German term for unflavored, full-bodied folk-style tobaccos. Sold under this name in Austria, it has been produced since 1949; it's blended within the Japan Tobacco International group under the Austria Tabak brand. It contains Burley, golden Virginia, Paraguayan, and Oriental leaf.
It's a fine-ribbon cut, coming out of the pack quite dry, though the ribbons keep their flexibility and internal moisture. On opening the pack, Paraguayan tobacco's strong, intense scent is noticed first; after airing, a measured note reminiscent of sugar, cocoa, spice, and fruit comes forward. Strength is medium, flavor is intense. It suits smokers looking for a Burley-heavy, full-bodied everyday tobacco where flavoring stays in the background.
